After School Art Club (5–7 year olds)

Join the fun at our weekly After School Art Club for 5-7 year olds.

Over five weeks, children will explore new materials and techniques in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, led by local artist Sara Melin and inspired by our exhibition Edge.

Sessions will include weaving inspired by coastal landscapes, drip drawing with watercolour and salt, creating plaster imprints of marine life, plus drawing and sculpture.

Due to the capacity of our studio, it’s not possible for parents and carers to stay with children but coquina will be open until 5pm for parents to enjoy a drink and take in the view.

All materials will be provided. All sales are final. We are unable to offer refunds.

Meet the artist

SARA MELIN

Sara Melin is a Swedish-born artist and designer who moved to the UK in 2002. She holds a BA in Illustration from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and a Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art. With extensive experience in the creative industry, Sara has worked on numerous projects, including pop-up shops and installations for cultural institutions such as Somerset House, The Architecture Foundation, Selfridges, and the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), among many others.

In addition to her creative work, Sara is passionate about education and has a strong background in teaching. She became a qualified primary school teacher in 2019 and has since taught at both primary and secondary school levels, as well as at university. Sara has also developed and led workshops at institutions, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Royal College of Art, and most recently, Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.
