Hastings Contemporary is an iconic building in the heart of Hastings Old Town, surrounded by fishing huts, funiculars and one of the most distinctive stretches of seafront in the country. Designed by HAT Projects, the building has received multiple architectural awards and offers a remarkable setting for a wide range of events.
Whether you are planning a meeting, a workshop or a special celebration, we offer a selection of memorable spaces.
As a registered charity, all income generated from venue hire directly supports our education and artistic programmes.
Community rates are available for eligible not-for-profit organisations, charities, schools, colleges, CICs, voluntary groups and others delivering clear social, educational or cultural benefit.
Our spaces: Learning Studio
A bright, flexible ground floor space, the Learning Studio is ideal for workshops, training sessions, away days, small receptions and team meetings.
The room can accommodate up to 40 guests seated theatre style, 30 classroom style, 20 boardroom style or 50 standing.

Our spaces: Meeting Room
Our Meeting Room is a simple, comfortable, practical space for interviews, one to one meetings, small team sessions and focused discussions.
It seats up to 4 people and is available during gallery opening hours.

For larger events, Hastings Contemporary offers striking spaces with dramatic sea views and the unique atmosphere of an art gallery.
Depending on the nature and timing of your event, we may be able to offer partial or full gallery hire, with or without access to our café partner, coquina.
These spaces are particularly well suited to networking events, corporate entertaining and special occasions.

On our first floor, our cafe space has breathtaking south-facing views of the fishing beach and is a unique location for a special event, birthday or a celebration of life.
The space can accommodate 45 seated and 60 standing, and includes use of the sun terrace with ocean views.
