£75 / £70 (students and unemployed) for three-week course
Writing about art requires rigour and a skillful use of language, approach and attitude. This three-week course is an introduction to these skills for beginners.
The course will focus on aesthetics and the importance in the written text of social and historical context. We will practice our own writing using focused exercises and by studying texts such as exhibition reviews, museum wall text, artist biographies and catalogue entries.
The course will be led by Simon Hobson, an art consultant and translator who has written and translated art theory, art historical writing, features on individual artists and groups, art criticism and reviews.
