SUPPER CLUB

with Sue Tilley

6pm-9pm
£45

Join Sue Tilley, Lucian Freud’s muse, in conversation with our Director, Kathleen Soriano, and enjoy a shared table feast at coquina curated by chef Wil Hopson.

Sue Tilley was born in South London in 1957. Although she worked full time in various  Job Centres including 12 years in Soho’s  Denmark Street,  she became a stalwart of the 1980s club circuit, where she met Leigh Bowery. He employed her as cashier at his nightclub Taboo.  Bowery introduced her to artist Lucian Freud and Freud’s portraits of Sue, among them ‘Benefits Supervisor Sleeping’, broke world records at auction for paintings by living artists at the time.

Spend time with our Moore/Freud exhibition, which includes Woman with an Arm Tattoo, an etching with Sue Tilley as the subject, before heading to coquina for food and conversation.

Come alone or with friends and make new connections over art and food. Our supper club is a communal experience, and for this reason we welcome a maximum of four people per booking.

We can cater for all major dietary requirements. Please specify any dietary requirements when booking.

Wil Hopson is head chef and owner of coquina, a coastal restaurant and bar at Hastings Contemporary. His food is Spanish-inspired and produce-led, rooted in great ingredients and a straightforward, expressive style.

All sales are final. We are unable to offer refunds.
