Be part of our new outdoor drawing event and capture the spirit of the Hastings coastline!
From the beach to the country park, sketch your favourite view and be in with a chance of winning a prize. At the end of the day Leah Cross, our Director of Programmes and Jo Myles, Creative Director of Sussex Contemporary will judge the entries and choose the winners.
Everyone and all ages are welcome. There will be an adult category, as well as three children’s categories: under 16, under 12, and under 8.
Your ticket includes basic drawing materials but of course feel free to bring your own too.
Prizes include: a Hastings Contemporary membership, an archive exhibition catalogue, 1 free submission to our next Open call for artists, 1 free ticket to a life drawing class. Winners in the children’s categories will receive a goodie bag from our shop.
Instructions on the day: check in at our front desk from 11am, complete an artist form, collect your materials and then set off sketching. Return your artwork to the gallery by 3pm latest. Winners will be announced at 4pm.
* When exploring the fishing beach next to the gallery, please be careful where you walk. It is a working beach with machinery and equipment in daily use by Hastings fishermen.
