After School Art Club

Join the fun at our weekly after school club for 5-7 year olds (for 8-12 year olds, check out our new Herring After School Art Club).

Over five weeks, children will explore new materials and techniques in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, led by local artist Sara Melin.

This term, taking inspiration from our exhibitions and coastal location, children will use professional art materials to create imaginary underwater creatures, experimental self-portraits and colourful coral reefs. They will experiment with patterns inspired by fish scales, sculpture using natural materials, and seed printing.

Due to the capacity of our studio, it’s not possible for parents and carers to stay with children but coquina café will be open until 5pm for parents to enjoy a coffee and take in the view.

All materials will be provided. All sales are final. We are unable to offer refunds.

Sara Melin

Sara Melin is a Swedish-born artist and art teacher. She has a Master of Arts from Royal College of Art, a BA (Hons) from Central Saint Martins in illustration, and a PGCE in Primary Education (5–11).

In 2010 Sara co-founded The Poundshop, through this project, she worked on a wide range of pop-up shops and installations for cultural institutions including: Somerset House, Uniqlo, Selfridges, and V&A. She is currently a workshop facilitator at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, creating educational and fun workshops for children.
