Join us after hours for a night of folklore and fun with live music, DJ, performance and interventions around the gallery, plus flash tattoos created especially for this event.

Folk four-piece Goblin Band will be live in the gallery for their first ever Hastings show. Throughout the evening enjoy upbeat folk tunes courtesy of DJ Sam Dook, tarot readings with Anna Atkinson, and flash tattoos from @tatbain and @twocabz. As you explore the exhibitions, look out for Isabel Rock as Slug.

Upstairs at coquina: Inspired by salt, stories, and the folklore of the fishing fleet, the evening’s Spanish tapas and a bespoke cocktail are designed to be savoured slowly, like a good sea tale.

Tickets include one drinks token.

Please note: Flash tattoos are not included in the ticket price. Payment should be made directly to the tattoo artist. This event is for over 18s only. All sales are final. We are unable to offer refunds.

GOBLIN BAND

Goblin Band are a four-piece English traditional folk band based in London. Firmly rooted in the folk music of England, the band shines a light on an alternative perspective on the UK's social and political history, particularly the history of the working classes, industrialisation and colonialism.

Through a fusion of harmony singing, fiddle, squeezeboxes, hurdy gurdy, recorders and more, Goblin band deliver a charismatic and unruly alternative expression of English traditional music in a way that is riotously joyful and deeply sincere.

Sam Dook is a member of Mercury Prize nominated The Go! Team, and CUZ (a collaboration with bass player Mike Watt). He will be our resident DJ for the evening.

Anna Atkinson is the author of The Wonky Woman’s Guide to Tarot. Based in Hastings, she is a qualified art therapist, storyteller, and performer. Pose your questions to her tarot deck as she offers free readings all evening.

Isabel Rock is an artist and activist, currently exhibiting at Hastings Contemporary. She crafts surreal narratives with fantastical beings and hidden morals that blend humour with the darker side of human nature. Look out for her roaming the galleries as Slug.
