Cafe
coquina at Hastings Contemporary is a new Mediterranean inspired restaurant and café with stunning panoramic views.
coquina is brought to you by the team behind Bayte in St Leonards. Inspired by a shared love of Spanish tapas bars, Italian trattorias and Greek tavernas, coquina will serve vibrant dishes featuring the best produce from across the South coast.
Whether it’s a salty snack and a cocktail at sundown, a light lunch and glass of wine after a visit to the gallery, or a special celebration in our beautiful space, coquina can cater for it all.

Shop
Our shop showcases a wide range of gifts, inspired by our programme of world-class exhibitions and the gallery’s coastal location.
We take pride in supporting over 25 local artists and makers, featuring unique collections of ceramics, homeware, toys, jewellery, accessories, prints and cards. Every purchase directly supports the work of Hastings Contemporary.
You don’t have to visit the gallery to browse our shop. Visit our online shop to find a selection of items, as well as exclusively available original artworks by Sir Quentin Blake.
Members receive a 10% discount in the shop and cafe.
Accessibility
Hastings Contemporary strives to champion equality for D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people, ensuring that they have equal access to our work, services and physical spaces.
Our building is wheelchair accessible, with step free access and a lift serving both floors. Two wheelchairs are available – please let us know when you book your visit if you would like to use one.
There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor. We have male and female toilets and gender neutral single cubicle toilets.
Lightweight portable stools and large print labels are available – please ask at the front desk. We are a Dementia Friendly venue. Assistance dogs are welcome. We are sorry, but other dogs are not allowed in the gallery.
We regret there is no onsite parking. The pavement outside is wide enough for visitors to be dropped at the door and there are 15 blue badge parking spaces in Rock-a-Nore car park.

Families
Gallery admission is free for up to four under 18s per adult ticket. Baby changing facilities are located on the first floor. Ask a member of staff about buggy storage. We are a Breastfeeding Friendly venue. We have free lockers on site for visitors’ use.
Family Days take place on Thursdays during school holidays and include a drop-in workshop in our studio run by a local artist, as well as activities throughout the gallery. Children go free and there’s no need to book – just turn up and enjoy.

Getting here by car
The gallery is located just off the A259. There are a number of car parks within walking distance of the gallery. Our nearest ones are Rock-a-Nore Road, the Bourne and Pelham Place.
Getting here by public transport
Hastings Contemporary is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from Hastings train station. Direct train services run regularly to London, Brighton and Ashford International. The 321, 100 and 101 buses from the station (towards Rye and Ore) stop at the Stade, which is a short walk away. The 5-minute journey in a taxi costs about £7.
