SIREN SONG

Creative textile workshop

6pm-9pm
£45 / £36 low wage concession

Create a personal response in stitch to the folklore of the mermaid and the Hastings coastline in this workshop led by textile artist Tara Deighton.

The mythical mermaid, also known as a siren, can represent personal evolution, the duality of self and our connection to the sea.

This creative textile workshop will explore the myth and lore of the mermaid through textile collage, stitched mark making and applique. Taking traditional and simple methods, participants will use texture, colour and intuitive stitch to create experimental textile collages in response to visual and verbal prompts and their own perceptions of the mermaid.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with experience sewing. All materials are provided. All sales are final, we are unable to offer refunds.

This event is part of The Sun Feeds the Wind public programme, made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage.
